Voyage description

Our voyage begins in Civitavecchia, the gateway to Rome, one of the most iconic cities in the world. Spend time exploring the Eternal City, with its stunning landmarks like the Colosseum, the Vatican, and the Pantheon, before setting sail south towards the Mediterranean gem of Porto-Vecchio in Corsica.

Aboard the Santa Maria Manuela, take part in the thrill of sailing. Help the crew hoist the sails, try your hand at the wheel, or simply relax as the ship glides across the Tyrrhenian Sea. Engage in knot-tying lessons or climb the mast (weather permitting) for an unforgettable view. End your days with a sunset drink on deck, soaking in the peacefulness of the open sea.

Porto-Vecchio, known as the “City of Salt,” offers a delightful blend of history, charm, and natural beauty. Take a stroll through its cobbled streets, enjoy the local cuisine, or marvel at the stunning coastal views.

Too soon, we continue our journey south to Naples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its rich history, art, and gastronomy. Indulge in authentic Neapolitan pizza and explore this vibrant city’s treasures, from its historic center to its bustling streets.

*Travellers must be between 14 and 80 years old on the date of sailing to be eligible for the trip.

  • Civitavecchia, a charming port city on the western coast of Italy, serves as the main gateway to Rome for travelers arriving by sea. Known for its ancient Roman roots and historical architecture, Civitavecchia is home to the impressive Forte Michelangelo, built in the 16th century to protect the city.

The bustling port and seafront offer scenic views, lively markets, and delicious seafood restaurants, making it a popular stop for cruise ships and visitors exploring central Italy. With easy access to both Rome and the beautiful Tyrrhenian Sea, Civitavecchia is an ideal destination for those seeking history, culture, and coastal beauty.

  • Porto Vecchio, located in southern Corsica, is a charming blend of history, natural beauty, and Mediterranean allure. Its picturesque old town is a maze of narrow cobblestone streets, quaint boutiques, and inviting cafés, all overlooked by the historic citadel that offers stunning views of the surrounding area. Just a short distance away, you’ll find some of Corsica’s most beautiful beaches, including Palombaggia and Santa Giulia, known for their crystal-clear waters and white sands.

Beyond the coastline, Porto Vecchio is a gateway to Corsica’s rugged interior, offering opportunities for hiking in the Ospedale Forest or exploring the dramatic Bavella Needles. With its mix of cultural charm and outdoor adventures, Porto Vecchio is an unmissable Mediterranean destination.

  • Naples, one of Italy’s most exciting cities, is renowned for its rich history and culture, making it a true treasure for art lovers. The historic center, designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, is home to the stunning Naples Cathedral and the fascinating National Archaeological Museum, which showcases relics from Pompeii and Herculaneum. The famous Castel Nuovo, with its impressive architecture, is a must-see landmark that bears witness to the city’s history.

Naples is also the birthplace of pizza, and trying an authentic Neapolitan pizza at one of the many local pizzerias is an essential experience. In addition to pizza, Neapolitan cuisine is rich with dishes like sfogliatella, a traditional pastry, and pasta alla genovese, a delicious pasta with basil sauce.

The second night of our trip was sky clear enough so we could see all those stars and Milkyway. And we were so lucky that at the same moment, we reached the place with a lot of plankton that was fluorescent. It was a very magic moment.

Many small moments with different crew members made this navigation magical: share the spectacle of a sunset or dolphins playing at the front of the boat, participate in maneuvers, ...etc

I won't forget the long-suffering patient crew member who taught me to tie a double bowline. It took ages but I finally got it, and was able to teach another passenger.

Plein de moments magiques pendant le voyage. C'était impressionnant de voir le bateau depuis le zodiac quand on se trouvait à environ 50 ou 100 m du navire. Super la baignade en pleine mer.
