Voyage description

Embark on an unforgettable 5-day voyage aboard the Santa Maria Manuela, where history, culture, and sailing adventure come together.

Our Mediterranean journey begins in the vibrant city of Málaga, a historic maritime hub with roots tracing back to the Phoenicians. Explore the Alcazaba and Gibralfaro, the impressive Moorish fortress complex offering breathtaking views of the city and coastline. For art enthusiasts, Málaga—birthplace of Picasso—offers a chance to visit the Picasso Museum and uncover the life and works of one of the most influential artists of all time.

Setting sail from Málaga, we chart a course directly to Castellón, arriving in time for the Escala a Castelló, a spectacular celebration of maritime heritage, culture, and gastronomy. From April 24th to 28th, Castellón transforms into a vibrant hub of nautical festivities, offering guests the unique opportunity to explore majestic tall ships, savor local flavors, and immerse themselves in the fiestas del mar.

While at sea, take part in life aboard the Santa Maria Manuela. Help the crew hoist the sails, take the helm of this magnificent 68-meter schooner, or learn the art of knot-tying. Whether you’re climbing the mast, relaxing on the bowsprit, or sharing stories with fellow passengers, every moment promises an unforgettable connection to the ocean.

As we dock in Castellón, the city welcomes us with open arms to partake in its grand maritime festivities. Celebrate the voyage with your shipmates and revel in the fiesta spirit as we bring this incredible adventure to a close.

  • In Málaga, the heart of Spain’s Costa del Sol, a visit to the historic Alcazaba is a must. This Moorish fortress, with its lush gardens and commanding views of the city and harbor, offers a glimpse into the region's rich history. Just below, the Roman Theatre adds another layer of ancient charm to Málaga’s cultural tapestry. The city's bustling port area, Muelle Uno, is a lively spot to enjoy a drink, browse boutique shops, or take in views of the Mediterranean.

Art enthusiasts should not miss the Picasso Museum, celebrating the city’s most famous son. For beach lovers, Málaga’s sun-kissed shores, like Playa de la Malagueta, are perfect for a relaxing afternoon. Don’t forget to indulge in the local cuisine, with “espeto de sardinas,” grilled sardines on the beach, offering a true taste of Andalusian flavor.

  • Castellón, a charming coastal city in Spain, is a must-visit destination for lovers of culture and tradition. Our arrival will coincide with the vibrant “Escala a Castelló”, part of the Maritime Festivals, a celebration of the city’s connection to the sea with parades, maritime activities, and a lively atmosphere.

The city also enchants visitors with its historic center, where you can explore the impressive Co-Cathedral of Santa Maria and the iconic Fadrí, a bell tower offering panoramic views of the city. The Central Market is a must-see, brimming with fresh produce and authentic Mediterranean flavors.

For relaxation, Castellón’s golden beaches, such as Playa del Gurugú, invite you for a stroll or a refreshing dip. And, of course, you can’t miss trying the local delicacies, like arroz a banda, at one of the seaside restaurants.

The second night of our trip was sky clear enough so we could see all those stars and Milkyway. And we were so lucky that at the same moment, we reached the place with a lot of plankton that was fluorescent. It was a very magic moment.

Many small moments with different crew members made this navigation magical: share the spectacle of a sunset or dolphins playing at the front of the boat, participate in maneuvers, ...etc

I won't forget the long-suffering patient crew member who taught me to tie a double bowline. It took ages but I finally got it, and was able to teach another passenger.

Plein de moments magiques pendant le voyage. C'était impressionnant de voir le bateau depuis le zodiac quand on se trouvait à environ 50 ou 100 m du navire. Super la baignade en pleine mer.
