Voyage description

We start our tall ship adventure in the historic town of Castellon, at its vibrant port festival. More than 270,000 visitors commonly flock to the city in the spring to revel in this great celebration of maritime heritage and enjoy the gastronomic and musical entertainment. Before embarking take a stroll to the cathedral, El Fadrí’s 60 meter medieval bell tower or the 17th century Kanamo Market building.

As we sail out of Castellon in the company of other great tall ships north towards France’s Vermillion Coast, volunteer to help the crew hoist and set the sails. The feeling of helming a 68m sailing ship with the sensation as she responds to the command of the wheel is something to savor forever. There´s nothing our crew like more then to share their knowledge of sailing with our guests, and they will encourage you to get actively involved in sailing the ship.

Knot classes are a great way to learn a new skill whilst sharing sailing stories with shipmates, and if the weather allows there's the opportunity to go up the mast or relax on the bowsprit. A drink at sunset on the deck is the perfect way to round off each day.

If we find a quiet moment we may take advantage of the chance to swim and enjoy the ships kayaks and paddle boards.

Before long we approach the foot of the Albères mountain, and the beautiful French fishing port of Port-Vendres, a natural deep-water harbor which rendezvous with the mountains behind. Sandy beaches and pebble coves are overlooked by the Tower Madeloc, offering magnificent views of the Catalan coast and varied walks through picturesque vineyards and terraces hamlet. The city owes its name "Portus Veneris" in the presence of a temple dedicated to Venus, who would have dominated the creek.

Enjoy the festival before heading home.

Weather:
April in Port Vendres offers mild and pleasant weather, with temperatures ranging from 13°C to 20°C, balmy temperatures in which to enjoy this beautiful fishing port.
