Voyage description

Join us for an unforgettable 5-day voyage aboard the historic tall ship Santa Maria Manuela, sailing from Castellón to Mahon and on to Barcelona, the vibrant capital of Catalonia and host of the 2024 America’s Cup sailing series.

Our adventure begins in Castellón, a hidden gem on Spain’s Mediterranean coast after their maritime festival from April 24-28. Arrive a few days early and see the tall ships and enjoy the ambiance. Discover the charm of its historic old town, the modern marina, and the surrounding orange groves. Stroll along the lively Grau district or enjoy a visit to the local art galleries and museums.

Aboard the Santa Maria Manuela, experience the joy of sailing on an authentic tall ship. Take part in hoisting sails, steering the ship, or simply relaxing while the Mediterranean breeze carries us toward our first stop—Mahon.

While at sea, enjoy knot-tying lessons, share stories with your fellow travelers, or marvel at the views from the mast or bowsprit. End your days with a drink in hand, watching the sun set over the horizon.

In Mahon, the capital of Menorca, wander through its historic streets, discover the impressive natural harbor, and savor Menorcan culinary specialties like caldereta de langosta, a traditional lobster stew.

  • Castellón, a charming coastal city in Spain, is a must-visit destination for lovers of culture and tradition. Our arrival will coincide with the vibrant “Escala a Castelló”, part of the Maritime Festivals, a celebration of the city’s connection to the sea with parades, maritime activities, and a lively atmosphere.

The city also enchants visitors with its historic center, where you can explore the impressive Co-Cathedral of Santa Maria and the iconic Fadrí, a bell tower offering panoramic views of the city. The Central Market is a must-see, brimming with fresh produce and authentic Mediterranean flavors.

For relaxation, Castellón’s golden beaches, such as Playa del Gurugú, invite you for a stroll or a refreshing dip. And, of course, you can’t miss trying the local delicacies, like arroz a banda, at one of the seaside restaurants.

  • Mahon, the capital of the island of Menorca, is a charming city that combines history, culture, and beautiful landscapes. Its natural harbor, one of the largest in the world, is perfect for boat trips and offers stunning views of the anchored vessels.

The city is rich in architecture, highlighted by the impressive Church of Santa Maria and the historic Market Hall, where visitors can find fresh local produce. The Menorca Museum is another point of interest, showcasing the island's history and culture through its archaeological and ethnographic collections. Mahón is renowned for its cuisine, particularly the Menorcan cheese and the delicious caldereta de langosta, a traditional lobster dish.

The streets of Mahón are filled with cafés and restaurants that create a welcoming atmosphere and offer traditional dishes. With its lively ambiance and rich cultural heritage, Mahón is an unmissable destination in the Balearics.

  • Barcelona, Spain’s dynamic capital of Catalonia, is a city where Gothic history meets modernist flair. Begin your journey at the awe-inspiring Sagrada Família, Antoni Gaudí’s iconic basilica that captivates with its intricate spires and ethereal light. Wander through the narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter to uncover hidden squares, centuries-old buildings, and the grand Barcelona Cathedral.

For a taste of the city’s creative energy, visit the bustling La Boqueria Market, where vibrant stalls overflow with fresh seafood, jamón, and artisanal treats. Escape the city buzz in Park Güell, another of Gaudí’s masterpieces, where whimsical mosaics and lush gardens offer panoramic views of Barcelona’s skyline. And, of course, no trip is complete without a relaxing afternoon at Barceloneta Beach, savoring seafood paella with the Mediterranean breeze in the air.

The second night of our trip was sky clear enough so we could see all those stars and Milkyway. And we were so lucky that at the same moment, we reached the place with a lot of plankton that was fluorescent. It was a very magic moment.

I won't forget the long-suffering patient crew member who taught me to tie a double bowline. It took ages but I finally got it, and was able to teach another passenger.

Plein de moments magiques pendant le voyage. C'était impressionnant de voir le bateau depuis le zodiac quand on se trouvait à environ 50 ou 100 m du navire. Super la baignade en pleine mer.
