Voyage description
Sail the Atlantic Coast: Lisbon to A Coruña Aboard a Historic 4-Masted Schooner A Timeless Maritime Adventure.
Step aboard the majestic Santa Maria Manuela for an unforgettable voyage along one of Europe’s most storied coastlines.
Your journey begins in Lisbon, a city steeped in maritime history. As we depart from the heart of Portugal’s capital, we sail past the elegant Praça do Comércio and beneath the iconic 25 de Abril Bridge, often lit by the warm glow of sunset.
We head north along the rugged Atlantic coast. On the horizon, the Berlengas Islands appear—an isolated archipelago known for its clear waters and dramatic cliffs, once a refuge for fishermen and sailors. Throughout the voyage, the crew will invite you to join in the sailing experience. Hoist and trim the sails, take the helm, learn knots in onboard workshops, or climb the mast (weather permitting). Whether you're eager to get involved or prefer to relax and take it all in, there’s space for both.
As we round Cape Finisterre, once believed to be the end of the known world, you’ll feel the vastness of the Atlantic. Whether actively sailing or enjoying a quiet moment with a drink on deck, every moment brings you closer to the timeless rhythm of life at sea.
Our journey ends in A Coruña, a proud Galician port with deep seafaring roots. Home to the world’s oldest functioning lighthouse, the Tower of Hercules, this historic city offers a fitting close to an unforgettable Atlantic voyage.

Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, is a city rich in history and flavor. Its winding, narrow streets of the older parts of town will pull you in, and if you’re lucky you may hear the sound of fado drifting from small taverns. The tiles—those colorful azulejos—tell stories of the past as they cover walls and buildings.
Take some time to visit the Belém Tower and Jerónimos Monastery. Both are UNESCO sites, tied to Portugal’s maritime history. You’ll feel the weight of centuries when you stand in front of them, thinking back to the Age of Discoveries
Hungry? Head to a local bakery and grab a pastel de nata. Trust us, it’s the kind of treat you’ll think about long after you’ve left. If you have time, stroll up to Miradouro da Senhora do Monte for one of the best views in the city. The rooftops, the Tagus River, the way the light hits it all—it’s all breathtaking. Lisbon’s mix of the old and the new makes it a place worth exploring. Wander through neighborhoods, grab a coffee, sit in the sun.
Facing the Atlantic Ocean on the northwestern coast of Spain, A Coruña is a port city with a strong connection to the sea. Its long waterfront promenade stretches for several kilometers, perfect for a walk with views of waves crashing against the rocks and beaches scattered along the way.
The old town is home to narrow streets, traditional taverns and the lively Plaza de María Pita, named after the city’s local heroine. At the tip of the peninsula stands the Tower of Hercules, the oldest working lighthouse in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
A Coruña is also known for its local seafood, served fresh in simple restaurants by the harbor, and for its contemporary culture, with museums, galleries and modern architecture.
With easy access to nearby coastal villages and natural parks, A Coruña offers a good balance between city life and the sea.

I won't forget the long-suffering patient crew member who taught me to tie a double bowline. It took ages but I finally got it, and was able to teach another passenger.

Plein de moments magiques pendant le voyage. C'était impressionnant de voir le bateau depuis le zodiac quand on se trouvait à environ 50 ou 100 m du navire. Super la baignade en pleine mer.
