Dublin: Expect cool, fresh weather with average temperatures around 13–18 °C (55–64 °F). Days are long with frequent light breezes and occasional rain showers.

At Sea: Moderate seas with prevailing westerly or south-westerly winds, ideal for sailing.

A Coruña: Warmer, sunnier days with temperatures between 17–24 °C (63–75 °F), and a refreshing Atlantic breeze keeping things comfortable.
Overall, it’s an ideal time for an offshore passage with long daylight hours, manageable seas, and beautiful conditions to enjoy life under sail.

Voyage description

Set sail from the beautiful city of Dublin, where Irish hospitality, maritime history, and music fill the air. This historic port, with its rich seafaring past, offers a warm send-off as you journey south through the Irish Sea and into the Atlantic.

Leave the Irish coastline behind as you embark on a true offshore sailing passage. Feel the open ocean as the Santa Maria Manuela stretches her sails and heads for Galicia, crossing the Bay of Biscay towards Spain.

Volunteer to help the crew hoist and set the sails; the feeling of helming a 68m sailing ship and sensing her response to the wheel is unforgettable. Knot classes are a great way to learn a new skill while sharing stories with fellow shipmates. If the weather allows, you can go up the mast or relax on the bowsprit. A drink at sunset on deck is the perfect way to round off each day at sea.

Make landfall in A Coruña, a proud Galician port city with deep roots in Atlantic trade. Here, the sea shapes daily life:  from bustling fish markets to the ancient Roman lighthouse, the Tower of Hercules. The rhythms of traditional Galician music and rich seafood cuisine reflect a culture forged by centuries of seafaring exchange.

This voyage aboard the majestic Santa Maria Manuela offers an authentic offshore sailing experience and a unique window into two distinct yet connected maritime worlds.

*Travellers must be between 14 and 80 years old on the date of sailing to be eligible for the trip.

  • Dublin, Ireland’s lively capital, is a city steeped in maritime history and timeless charm. Once a bustling port of trade and exploration, its docks and quays whisper tales of seafarers and emigrants. Today, Dublin blends rich heritage with warm hospitality, offering visitors a warm welcome and a vibrant atmosphere.

Stroll through cobbled streets to discover historic landmarks like Trinity College, Dublin Castle, and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. In the evening, the city comes alive with traditional music pouring from pubs, where locals share stories over a pint. From its literary legacy to its deep-rooted seafaring past, Dublin is a city that invites you in — and stays with you long after you’ve gone.

  • Facing the Atlantic Ocean on the northwestern coast of Spain, A Coruña is a port city with a strong connection to the sea. Its long waterfront promenade stretches for several kilometers, perfect for a walk with views of waves crashing against the rocks and beaches scattered along the way.

The old town is home to narrow streets, traditional taverns and the lively Plaza de María Pita, named after the city’s local heroine. At the tip of the peninsula stands the Tower of Hercules, the oldest working lighthouse in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

A Coruña is also known for its local seafood, served fresh in simple restaurants by the harbor, and for its contemporary culture, with museums, galleries and modern architecture.

With easy access to nearby coastal villages and natural parks, A Coruña offers a good balance between city life and the sea.

I won't forget the long-suffering patient crew member who taught me to tie a double bowline. It took ages but I finally got it, and was able to teach another passenger.

Plein de moments magiques pendant le voyage. C'était impressionnant de voir le bateau depuis le zodiac quand on se trouvait à environ 50 ou 100 m du navire. Super la baignade en pleine mer.
