Joining us on this voyage is Cristina Rampinini, marine biologist at AIMM (Marine Environment Research Association), who will embark on an unforgettable sailing voyage from Madeira to Tenerife aboard the historic tall ship Santa Maria Manuela. Cross the deep-blue waters of the Atlantic while experiencing life at sea and discovering the rich marine ecosystems that connect these remarkable island archipelagos.
Departing from Funchal, we sail south through waters renowned for their biodiversity, passing near the Selvagens Islands, a remote nature reserve and one of the most important protected marine areas in the North Atlantic. These waters are home to an extraordinary variety of marine life, from seabirds and turtles to dolphins and whales.
Joining us on this voyage is Cristina Rampinini, marine biologist at AIMM (Marine Environment Research Association), who will share her knowledge of the marine wildlife and ecosystems of Madeira and the Canary Islands through informal talks, discussions and wildlife observation opportunities. Her presence offers a unique chance to learn more about the ocean and the species that inhabit it while sailing through their natural habitat.
As we make our way towards Tenerife, guests are invited to embrace the rhythm of life aboard a traditional tall ship. Take the helm, help set and trim sails, learn traditional seamanship skills from the crew, or simply relax on deck and enjoy the vast Atlantic landscapes. Weather permitting, adventurous guests may also have the opportunity to climb the mast and take in spectacular views of the ocean from above.
As Tenerife emerges on the horizon, admire the island's dramatic volcanic scenery and the silhouette of Mount Teide rising above the Atlantic before arriving in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
By the end of the voyage, you will leave not only with unforgettable memories of life under sail, but also with a deeper understanding of the marine environment that makes this region of the Atlantic so special.
