Voyage description

This voyage links São Miguel in the Azores to Funchal in Madeira on a direct Atlantic passage of approximately 550 nautical miles.

There are no stops along the way. The journey is shaped by the rhythm of the sea, the prevailing winds and the natural conditions of the Atlantic. It is a voyage designed for those who appreciate being offshore — away from ports, schedules and crowds.

Life on board follows the cadence of an ocean crossing: shared meals, time on deck, open horizons and long sunsets at sea. Guests are welcome to observe and, when appropriate, take part in the daily routines of the ship, always under the guidance of our professional crew.

September typically offers stable conditions in this region of the Atlantic, making it a comfortable time of year for an open-water passage. As we sail south, the air gradually becomes warmer, and after several days at sea, Madeira appears on the horizon — a rewarding landfall after a true ocean journey.
This is a voyage for those who value sailing, sea and simplicity.

VIEW CABINS

*Travellers must be between 14 and 80 years old on the date of sailing to be eligible for the trip.

  • Ponta Delgada, the beautiful capital of São Miguel in the Azores, captivates visitors with its rich cultural heritage and stunning landscapes. The historic center, featuring the impressive Church of São Sebastião and the City Gates, invites exploration of its colonial architecture. Don't miss the chance to stroll through the António Borges Garden, where lush flora intertwines with serene pathways.

For food lovers, the famous Furnas stew is a must-try experience, along with the freshest fish and seafood dishes. Local markets, such as the Mercado da Graça, provide a true immersion into the flavors of the land, showcasing regional fruits, cheeses, and wines. Ponta Delgada is undoubtedly a destination that beautifully combines history, nature, and culinary delights in perfect harmony.

  • Funchal, the capital of Madeira, offers a perfect mix of maritime beauty, rich culture, and incredible food. Located along the Atlantic coast, it’s known for its stunning harbor and the surrounding crystal-clear waters.

Wander through its cobbled streets and vibrant markets. The Mercado dos Lavradores is the heart of the city's culinary scene, where you’ll find fresh local produce, exotic fruits, and Madeira’s famous black scabbardfish. Pair that with a taste of bolo do caco, a local garlic bread, or indulge in a glass of Madeira wine—renowned worldwide for its unique flavor. Funchal’s cultural side shines through its architecture, such as the 15th-century Funchal Cathedral, and its artistic touches, like the colorful murals in the old town.

For maritime history, a visit to the Museum of the History of Madeira or the replica of Christopher Columbus’s ship, the Santa Maria, brings the island’s deep connection to the sea to life.

These highlights and so many more make Funchal a true feast for the senses, both on the water and off.

The first time we helped the crew put up the sails was magical.

I won't forget the long-suffering patient crew member who taught me to tie a double bowline. It took ages but I finally got it, and was able to teach another passenger.

Plein de moments magiques pendant le voyage. C'était impressionnant de voir le bateau depuis le zodiac quand on se trouvait à environ 50 ou 100 m du navire. Super la baignade en pleine mer.
