Weather conditions

In mid-June, expect daytime temperatures between 14°C and 19°C. Weather at sea can vary, so bring layers suitable for both sunshine and cooler conditions, including a warm jumper, waterproof jacket, and non-slip shoes for time on deck. Evenings can feel cooler due to sea breezes.

Voyage description

This voyage begins in Bergen, Norway’s gateway to the fjords and a city steeped in maritime history. Guests can explore the wooden warehouses of Bryggen, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stroll through cobbled streets, or sample local seafood at the famous fish market before boarding.

Once under sail, the Santa Maria Manuela crosses the North Sea towards Scotland. Life on board follows the natural rhythm of the ship and the sea. Guests are welcome to participate: steering at the helm, helping to set or trim sails, or learning seamanship skills from the professional crew. Participation is optional, and there is ample time to relax on deck, look for marine wildlife, or read as the horizon stretches out ahead.

The voyage ends in Aberdeen, one of Scotland’s major ports with a strong maritime tradition. Known for its granite architecture and long history of North Sea trade, Aberdeen offers museums, gardens, and a bustling harbour, making it a fitting conclusion to this passage under sail.

The first time we helped the crew put up the sails was magical.

I won't forget the long-suffering patient crew member who taught me to tie a double bowline. It took ages but I finally got it, and was able to teach another passenger.

Plein de moments magiques pendant le voyage. C'était impressionnant de voir le bateau depuis le zodiac quand on se trouvait à environ 50 ou 100 m du navire. Super la baignade en pleine mer.
