Voyage description

Join us for a 5-day sailing adventure aboard the Santa Maria Manuela, departing and returning to Portimão, with a stop in the historic Spanish city of Cádiz.

This short but enriching voyage offers the perfect balance of hands-on sailing and cultural exploration. Whether you’re new to sailing or already familiar with life at sea, you’ll have the chance to join the crew in navigating this magnificent ship and enjoy the rhythm of life aboard a traditional tall ship.

We set sail from Portimão, cruising south along the Algarve coast before crossing the Gulf of Cádiz. The approach to Cádiz by sea offers a memorable view of the city’s historic skyline. Once ashore, explore its narrow streets, ancient city walls, and wide plazas. Cádiz is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Europe and a key port in Spanish naval history.

After a day exploring, we set sail back toward the Portuguese coast, giving you more time to immerse yourself in life at sea: hoisting sails, steering the ship, or simply enjoying the ocean views. Evenings are for quiet reflection on deck, playing games or sharing stories under the stars.

I won't forget the long-suffering patient crew member who taught me to tie a double bowline. It took ages but I finally got it, and was able to teach another passenger.

Plein de moments magiques pendant le voyage. C'était impressionnant de voir le bateau depuis le zodiac quand on se trouvait à environ 50 ou 100 m du navire. Super la baignade en pleine mer.
