Voyage description

We start our island-hopping adventure in Faial with the chance to visit Horta and its famous Peter's Café Sport bar frequented by yachtsmen since 1918. Marvel at the kaleidoscope of colors that adorn the marina, a centuries old canvas painted by sailors from around the world, leaving their mark on this seafaring haven. Before we depart, delve into the fascinating world of marine giants at the Whale Museum, a reminder of the need to protect this fragile ecosystem.

From Horta we sail north across the Sao Jorge Channel and up to Terceira, anchoring in the bay of UNESCO-listed Angra do Heroísmo, the Azores' oldest town, with its 16th-century fortress and Renaissance town. Explore the town or consider visiting Algar do Carvão with its 90m-deep volcanic chimney, or the island’s vineyards and lava-rock bathing pools in Biscoitos.

Too soon we must sail east for São Miguel. During the crossing keep an eye open for sperm whales hunting in the deep channels for giant squid, and there’s always a chance to sight blue, fin and sei whales. Bottlenose, Atlantic spotted and common dolphins are also found here at this time of the year. Take the helm, trim the sails, or help navigate. When you’re not busy, kick back with a book, play some games, or enjoy the stars at night.

The mid-Atlantic cosmopolitan city of Ponta Delgada awaits, complemented by an island lush in greenery, geothermal wonders, and charming villages. After disembarking consider exploring the natural hot springs, volcanic craters, and breathtaking vistas that offer a fitting conclusion to your unforgettable tall ship voyage. To the west lie Sete Cidades’ volcanic lakes, a testament to the island's fiery past, and the Azores' most recognized natural monument.

Plein de moments magiques pendant le voyage. C'était impressionnant de voir le bateau depuis le zodiac quand on se trouvait à environ 50 ou 100 m du navire. Super la baignade en pleine mer.
