The city's history is also linked to the sea, with the local hero Gregorio Fuentes, said to have inspired Hemingway's "The Old Man and the Sea," hailing from Arrecife.

Weather

In early December, the Canary Islands typically enjoy mild weather with comfortable temperatures, making it an ideal time to explore the stunning landscapes and beautiful beaches.

When preparing for your voyage please bear in mind:

Your passport must have at least 6 months validity at the time of travel
The SMM is granted no flexibility for the embarkation and disembarkation times from the customs authorities
All guests must be between the age of 14 and 80 yrs at the time of travel

It was obvious that the crew was very capable of doing everything without the help of the passengers, but I loved that they wanted us to be involved and gave us tasks that we could do. It is also evident how important safety on board is and I was impressed to see all of the crew members in harnesses and helmets whenever they were in slightly precarious positions preparing a sail to be raised or fixing something.
